BLUE BABY CELEBRATES ITS INTERNATIONAL PREMIERE IN WARSAW

Blue Baby (Hetki ennen valoa) brings together two women whose lives become intertwined amid a crisis in the healthcare sector. Laura Birn plays Inka, a neonatal intensive care nurse and single mother, while Oona Airola plays Leni, whose newborn son has a serious heart defect.

The film’s screenings in Warsaw prompted discussion about its timely themes, with Birn’s performance as Inka receiving particular praise. Director Klaus Härö, Birn and producer Kai Nordberg attended the festival.

Blue Baby is Härö’s tenth feature film and his fourth collaboration with Making Movies, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.

“Our longstanding collaboration with Härö has given us a unique window into the international film market. He is recognised as one of Finland’s most respected film directors,” says Nordberg.

Written by Kirsi Vikman and Jimmy Karlsson, the film stars Laura Birn, Oona Airola and Jussi Vatanen. It is currently screening in Finnish cinemas and has already drawn more than 38,000 admissions.
