KLAUS HÄRÖ'S FILM MY SAILOR, MY LOVE HAS BEEN SELECTED FOR THE DUBLIN AND GLASGOW FILM FESTIVALS
This year, Klaus Härö is a Jussi-Award nominee for directing the film My Sailor, My Love, which is also nominated for the Film of the Year.
My Sailor, My Love, by Klaus Härö is selected at the official selection at the Dublin International Film Festival (DIFF) and the Glasgow Film Festival (GFF). The film will have its first screening in Dublin on March 2 and in Glasgow on March 3.
The commercial premiere in cinemas is in the UK and Ireland on March 10. The film telling the story of the great last love is distributed in UK & Ireland under the name My Sailor, My Love. The distribution company is Signature. In addition to the British Isles, the film has been sold to several international territories.
“It is very exceptional for a Finnish film to be distributed in cinemas in the British Isles. The film's distribution company, Signature, is a very strong player in this market area. I share their view that My Sailor, My Love has strong potential to succeed in the UK and Ireland - one of the most important market areas in the world," says the film's producer Kai Nordberg.
My Sailor, My Love is the Nominee for the Best Film at the Finnish Jussi-Awards
My Sailor, My Love had its Finnish premiere in September 2022. To date, more than 115,000 viewers have seen the film in Finnish cinemas. The film has set an attendance record for Bio Rex Cinemas' Senior Bio. The world premiere of the film was at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2022. The US premiere of the film was at the Chicago International Film Festival in October, where it won the Audience Award for Best International Film. The film has already been shown at festivals such as Kolkata, Palm Springs, and Los Angeles Film Festivals and this spring, the film will be screened at several festivals, for example in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brussels.
My Sailor, My Love was produced by Kai Nordberg and Kaarle Aho. The original script was written by the successful writers of the film Mother of Mine, Kirsi Vikman and Jimmy Karlsson.
