Adolf Erik Nordenskiöld (1834-1901) was the first to sail through the Northeast Passage. The film is a documentary on A. E. Nordenskiöld’s expedition to Greenland 1883.

Adolf Erik Nordenski.ld became the Columbus of the North and great public figure of his time. In 1883 he set out for his last expedition to Greenland. He was obsessed by the thought of finding a green valley on Greenland. There was no green valley. But there was black matter on the snow which Nordenskiöld named “Cryoconite”. He claimed it accelerates the melting process of the glacier.
