The Young Schjerfbeck
The Young Schjerfbeck tells about ten years (1880-1890) in the life of the artist Helene Schjerfbeck. These are years she spent in France and England, which she assembles an intellectual heritage for her life.
Angel of the North is a journey through Finland during which we meet different people who all have a close relationship to the beloved painting; Wounded Angel by Hugo Simberg.
Wounded Angel is a painting that provokes discussion about art, passion, death, evilness, existence of angels and ultimately hope. Through the discussions, a picture of Finland and the Finnishness is portrayed – how it is perceived and represented both collectively and privately.
